About Us

The Island Heights Sailing Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)3 charitable organization, established in 2003, and incorporated under New Jersey law. It was created to preserve and advance the tradition of recreational sailing in and around historic Island Heights, New Jersey. Its primary mission is to help teach children and young adults to enjoy the wonderful sport of sailing.

By providing targeted grants to local sailing organizations, the Foundation strives to instill a life-long love of the sport, a strong sense of sportsmanship and a commitment to safety in the young men and women of the Island Heights area. The Foundation also helps preserve historic structures, both buildings and sailing vessels, in the Island Heights area. With its many stunning Victorian-era homes and buildings, the community’s historic importance is recognized by both the New Jersey and National Register of Historic Places. The Foundation provides targeted grants to organizations helping to preserve the historic character of the community for future generations. The Foundation’s Board of Directors meets quarterly or more frequently if circumstances warrant additional meetings.
